Welcome to the world of We Think. The audience is taking to the stage . . . thanks to the web millions of people can have their say . . .
Information is everywhere: blogs, videos, websites, wikis - which is pretty confusing - Everyone is talking at the same time. But ideas take life when they are shared . . . the web gets really interesting when people pool their ideas . . . then they start to be really creative . . . because new ideas come through conversations . . . and the web is a mass of conversations. That is why it's creating mass innovation. The 20th century = mass production for mass consumption . . . The 21st century = mass innovation - more ideas being shared by more people than ever before . . . millions of people are creating games, worlds, knowledge, information, software . . . Mass innovation comes from communities . . . It's like building a bird's nest where everyone leaves their piece. And why are people drawn to these communities? They want to socialize and get credit for the work they do . . . The motto of the generation growing up with the web is "We think therefore we are" - That should be good for . . . democracy because more people will have a voice . . . equality because knowledge can be set free to help people who need it but cannot pay . . . freedom because more people will know what it's like to be creative.
That sounds like Utopia, and . . .
there is a lot to be worked out . . .
Let’s not forget the chaos of uniform opinions.- halexa2013 Sep 1, 2010halexa2013
How do we protect what is private?
I can only think of passwords. Private businesses should have their own network.- halexa2013 Sep 1, 2010halexa2013
We can protect what is private, through the act of not posting things that are considered as personal/private.- cporra Aug 31, 2010cporra

Nobody is ever fully safe when using the internet. Anybody who has access to the internet can get any and all information
that you have posted online.- vnasta Aug 31, 2010
Even if the site is secure, people can still access photos. For example on facebook you post a image of you at a party or whatever because you know that facebook is secure. Well that's wrong, one of your friends can still get access and post it on google.- cgarza2013 Aug 31, 2010cgarza2013
Today, people have access to the imprints of one another's lives on the internet. Protecting our digital selves is extremely important, so precautions such as copywriting our ideas or monitoring what has our name attached to it can be useful ways of keeping our ideas from being used in a negative way.- kwithe Aug 31, 2010kwithe
Protecting private property on the internet, whether it is personal information that you are trying to hide to prevent
identity theft or intellectual information that you obtained and would like to receive credit for. Protecting personal
property on the internet requires adhering to consistent personal security standards.- cmitch6 Aug 31, 2010cmitch6
To protect what is private most likely means not making those private things accessible. Placing private information on the internet even with a password and username can still be considered making it accessible. If it's private, keep it off the internet. - OOECHS Aug 31, 2010ooechs
You simply think before you act/post/upload. - THEYDO Aug 31, 2010theydo
I guess that if we want to leave something private, we should not upload it to internet. Mostly every site can be broken.
So, my opinion is just not uploading, because those private things can become well-known if somebody of your familiars finds it.
Just keep personal issues off of the internet. I understand this might be hard because of websites like Facebook where we might feel obligated to tell the world what is going on in our lives, but I think people should fallow these two rules: don't post anything you wouldn't want your grandparents or future employers to see, and never post when you are overly emothional (sad, angry, confused). The internet is forever, and something that might seem like a good idea at the time could come back to haunt you in the future. - eadams2012 Sep 1, 2010eadams2012
Are we always safe sharing?
No we are not always safe sharing, especially on the internet because it can be accessed by most people in the world.- cporra Aug 31, 2010cporra
Not at all. People will try to steal your ideas, might critisize, and could alter it in a negative manner. - hpakra1 Aug 31, 2010hpakra1
By not posting images that you do not want or anything that you dont want shared to the public.
No, There are those people that can get acces to what you share, and are able to change it. Then while that person puts the false information your name is still signed on and then that would be your reputation for internet users, because you really never meet face to face.- cgarza2013 Aug 31, 2010cgarza2013
I think the answer to that is all dependent on your definiton of safe. I personally don't believe that we are always safe sharing, but I think the answer is different for each person. - OOECHS Aug 31, 2010ooechs

How do we earn a living when everyone is freely sharing their ideas . . .

We find a way to earn a living. There are still jobs and careers that are not as affected by the freely sharing of ideas. If our sharing of our ideas is influential enough, we can definately make a living, but there are other ways if not. - OOECHS Aug 31, 2010ooechs
